This is not an online database or index to Massachusetts newspaper obituaries. This is a request form to have one of our researchers physically scan newspaper microfilm or digitized newspaper holdings. There is a fee for this service. Our fee is $35 for each obituary search. Though we guarantee a thorough search, there is no refund if an obituary is not found.
We research most Massachusetts based daily and weekly newspapers. We do not search outside of Massachusetts. Please understand that obituaries and or death notices are not all that common until the early 20th century. Earlier newspaper publications do contain obituaries, but they are generally for prominent individuals or for those that died a tragic death. We will search prior to 1875 but realize chances are slim that a full obituary exists for any one individual. At best, a simple death notice is all that exists.
